Week 10: Imagining Scenarios

3rd of November, 2021
Reflect on what you did this week. How are things going?
This week, I have been focusing on going further with the opportunity that I have brainstormed last week. I have created storyboards based on each idea to figure out the overall experience that I am expecting.

The storyboards are divided into 3 panels. The first panel talks about the problem, the second is when the user interacts with the possible solution and the third panel would be the end-user experience.
1. Focusing on Human Senses
Thesis Interview Data
After realizing that the interviewees were using the human sense when defining the safety of the streets, I have thought to use this as an opportunity for a possible solution. Within their familiar term, the safety of the street would be rated based on the senses such as see, hear, touch (experience) and smell. People would be able to search specific streets in order to compare them based on the defined safety.
2. Creating safer routes based on the reviews
Thesis Interview Data
This idea was led by the thought of having reviews on the street. I saw an opportunity from having a review system on the streets as I believe that this could be led to building a safer route based on the reviews for people to walk safely.
3. Using street objects as an indication
Thesis Interview Data
As one of the interviewees mentioned the importance of street lights, I saw an opportunity in these street objects. Using street lights or bollards could become an indication of the danger around the area. The street lights would blink near the area of the incident to help avoid people being involved in them.
4. Finding a person you trust near you
Thesis Interview Data
During the research, I found that people also feel safe when they are calling with their friends or walking with people who they can rely on. I saw an opportunity from this insight. The possible solution could be having an application where people would be able to find a friend who is walking in the same direction as the user. They would find friends near the user’s location to walk together to their destinations.
Having storyboards would help me to see the possible scenarios with the solutions, but also help the user understand the concept during the testing. For this upcoming week, I would be focusing on preparing to do user-testing with my possible ideas.
