Week 11: Concept Testing
10th of November, 2021
What did you do? What did you learn?
After creating the storyboards last week, I have been preparing the interview guide to conduct user testing. I am going to showcase my 4 storyboards of possible solutions and ask the interviewees to rate them on the necessity and effectiveness of the ideas.
Brief Interview Guide
Could you please rate 1 to 10,
- If you think that this possible solution would be helpful?
(1: Not helpful~ 10: So helpful) - If you think that this possible solution would be necessary to have?
(1: Not Necessary~ 10: So Necessary) - If you think that this possible solution would improve to have a secure walking experience?
(1: No Improve ~ 10: Improve) - If you think that this possible solution would help you eliminate the possible fear of walking alone?
(1: Not Eliminate~ 10: Eliminate) - If you see yourself using this possible solution?
(1: Not really~ 10: Yes, I’ll use them)
Concept Testing
I had a chance to talk with 2 interviewees until today, and these are some of the data and findings from the user testing. I have tested through zoom calls for about an hour by sharing my screens to show my storyboards and asking them to rate and reasons behind their choices.

Storyboard 1: Focusing on Human Senses

- “I think it would be helpful, but I think the safety could be depending on the time of the day. The street's safety cannot only be defined within the amount of ppl in the streets.”
- “Sometimes the streets cannot be avoided.”
Storyboard 2: Creating safer routes based on the reviews

- “If it gives the direction of where to go, I think this idea is more realistic and easy to use, convenient.”
- “I normally choose the fastest route, and I wonder if the safest and fastest route can be together?”
Storyboard 3: Using street objects as an indication

- “It might be helpful for police officers, but I feel like I would feel scared if I see the lights blinking in my area.”
- “It is a complex idea, since it is related to city infrastructure.”
Storyboard 4: Finding a person you trust near you

- “I think it would improve my walking experience since I am not walking alone, but I am not sure how much it would be available, if the person isn’t as close to you, then it might be a bit uncomfortable.
What if you don’t have many friends?” - “Maybe if this app is for university or campus only, then it might be more helpful.”
So far within 2 interviewees, it seemed as they were more interested in the 1st and 2nd possible solutions. This upcoming week, I am planning to do several more user testing to gather more data and insights to view more different opinions.
