Week 5: Questionnaire Data Analysis

29th of September, 2021
Now that you have a focus, what are you most certain of?
Last week, I have been gathering responses for my questionnaire for about a week. This survey was created to understand how many people are feeling unsafe in the streets and who are feeling uncomfortable the most. In total, I was able to get 51 responses back.

The participants were mostly in between the ages of 17 to 28. There were about 62.7% of women, 27.5% of men, and others who are non-binary or transgender.

Data Analysis

1)
Questionnarie oftenwalk
Although we were in the COVID-19 pandemic, the responses show that about 80.1% of participants go for a walk at least once every week.
2)
Questionnarie longwalk
Based on the responses, 90.2% of the participants walk 2 hours or less.
3)
Questionnarie wherewalk
The data shows that 67.4% of the participants answered that they walk in the city, however, there were also 6.9% of people who walk both city and suburb.
4)
Questionnarie timewalk
Based on the graph, many of the participants (43.1%) go for a walk in the late afternoon between 3 pm to 6 pm.
5)
Questionnarie whywalk
The data shows that groceries, hanging out, school or work are the main reasons why people go out and the data shows similar percentages of 29.3% and 28%.

Emotion Data Analysis

1)
Questionnarie safewalk
The data shows that most of the people who identify with females have put the rate 2 for feeling safe walking by themselves in the streets whereas most of the males have rated it as 4. Out of 14 females who rated as 2 for feeling secure, 8 people had responded to be  Asian ethnicity.
Why do you feel or not feel safe?
2)
Questionnarie confidentwalk
The data shows that most of the females have rated 2 about the confidence walking alone in the streets whereas most of the males have rated it as 4.
Why do you feel or not feel confident?
After reviewing all the data, I have decided to narrow down my target audience and focus more on women and Asians. However, I would also like to make it as widely applicable as possible for other users.
