Week 2: Exploring Topics
8th of September, 2021
What topics have you explored? What parameters and constraints have you considered?
- Tip CultureAs a foreigner to the United States, tip culture was something that I had to get used to. I remember when I was talking with other international students, most of them didn’t really know why they were tipping the people they serve and they felt a bit pressured to pay more. This led me to wonder if these feelings were also valid to Americans and wondered if there was a way we could bring a bit more positive experience on tip culture." How Might We create a positive and supportive tipping experience? "
- Entering in the UI / UX Design fieldAs a person who was majoring in UI / UX design from freshman year, I have realized that there are more people from other majors transferring into the UI / UX field each year. Whether they are my friends or acquaintances in my connection, many of them came up to me and asked about UI / UX design and were seeking advice. As I love talking about it to others, I also wondered if there was an easier way for these students to be onboarded into a new design field and ask for help anytime they might need it." How Might We form an easier onboarding experience to enter the UI / UX design field? "
- Safer StreetsI believe many people might have experienced this, but walking alone at night or even during the afternoon doesn’t always make me feel safe. I have realized that especially in the cities in the United States, each street can give a very different atmosphere and sometimes, it does make me feel unsafe or uncomfortable to walk in some streets. Although we might not be able to block the attack directly, what if we could help people to walk a safer route by knowing the safety on every street?" How Might We provide a secure experience for people who are concern about walking in the streets? "
- Travelling with ConfidenceFor those who travel diversely, you might know how complicated it could be to prepare for each trip to different countries. Especially if you are travelling alone for the first time, it is easier to feel scared to know what to prepare for the trip based on your international status. As an international student, I also wondered this a lot and still am figuring it out based on each flight and the political situations. What if there is a place where I could easily ask other travellers and get this travel-related information immediately?" How Might We support the travellers to feel confident and prepared for their upcoming trips? "
