Every user can have a personalized experience by inputting the information based on the contact lens that they use during the FTUE. They can also choose their intended usage hours to set their goal.
EYECO helps to track the contact lens usage hours. The users only have to tap on the circle that is in the middle of the screen in order to start the track. They can keep track of the overall usage hours monthly through the calendar.
For the users who have consistent time of wearing contact lenses, they can set an alarm for the timer to start on a certain time. This would allow users to have less work in remembering to start tracking their usage hours.
In order to continuously remind the users, EYECO gives notifications based on their contact lens usages. It will notify them to start the timer, the amount of time left until their current lens to be expired and the amount of time they have until they overwear the maximum goal usage hours.
A contact lens is a thin and curved layer that you place on the surface of the eyes. There are several different types of lenses including hard and soft ones. They can contain vision as well to correct our eye sight, but also used for cosmetic or therapeutic reasons.

In order to understand the problem that we will be creating a solution for, we have decided to do primary research based on the contact lenses users. We have used google forms and asked 24 participants to answer based on their experience.
“More comfortable than glasses, and my appearance.”
"I believe mostly the 'appearance' part of it when I am going out in public.”
During the class, we had a little zoom breakout room session where we can receive feedback from our classmates. Based on the insights from the research, they helped us come up with some ideas to start off to brainstorm our solution.
Within the insights we found, we did a concept map in order to understand the connections between the problem and the possible outcomes it can create. It helps us to see the relationships of causality between each idea that we can focus into.
In order to define our target audience and their needs, we have created a persona. Understanding the opportunities and pain points would lead us to have a direction that is based on the user's needs within our research.
For EYECO, we wanted our application to contain the feeling of trustworthiness, but also clean and pure. Within our HMW statement and the solution, we aim to give an impression of sanitized and healthy. The application should make the user feel easily accessible and approachable throughout their experience.
Within our first version of wireframe screens, we had a chance to get some feedback from my classmates. We showed concept maps to explain some of the findings to give some ideas of what we are focusing on while looking at the screens.
By taking the feedback in mind, we have created our second version of wireframes. We have decided to create FTUE, which we believe that it is an important part of the process to show how our application works in order to provide a personal experience for the users.
The Eyeco project gave me an experience to learn and understand about behavior change. We were able to learn to create a design solution with a motivation that could help the user to change a certain behaviour.
Being able to understand the user’s needs and goals in order to create motivation was an important skill to learn during the whole process. As I was getting feedback on our solution, I felt quite fascinated to realize that human beings can easily lose attraction during the process of reaching their goals. I was able to learn how the motivation works and how they are not only needed for creating a behaviour change, but also, to do a simple task. Although there were some moments where our team found it hard to choose which motivations we should give to the users, the overall experience was a valuable and necessary learning for me.
If we had more time, I would love to do some testing of people recording their contact lens usage hours for a few days or a week. This experiment might be able to help us to see what are some pain points when recording, but also, using the findings to strengthen the motivations from EYECO to create a behaviour change.
